I just came home about an hour ago, after a wonderful Ghost & History Walk. It's so much fun to do. I've decided to call my walk the "Rob Hanks Tour" after a man who would "tell the story of Ocracoke" for a dime back in the 1950's. Here's his photo:
I will be visiting this summer and plan to take the tour...what a wonderful addition to your island. I don't suppose you would consider just charging a dime?????
Well, well, a dime?? Of course "the story of Ocracoke" for a dime was way back in the mid-1950's, an era when a modest island home on a half acre lot sold for $500.00.
Today that same lot would sell for about $500,000.00. No kidding! If I did the calculation correctly that's a 1000 times increase. By the same rate of inflation a tour worth a dime in 1955 would be worth $100.00 in 2004.
So I'd say come join me on the ghost/history walk. It's definitely a bargain at only $12.00. Don't you agree?
However, on the other hand, wow, only twelve dollars for an historical tour by a knowledgeable tour guide fraught with mystery...I mean, where else can one get such a deal?
Lou Ann spends much of the summer on Ocracoke, and makes frequent visits throughout the year. She enjoys making short videos as she goes "out and about" around the island and elsewhere. She posts her videos on her blog. You can watch them here:
