Rubber Boots

High winds, torrential rains, & rising tide -- it's just like a hurricane outside today. Many roads in the village are flooded 8 - 10 inches deep from the heavy rain. The ditches and tidal creeks are swollen to overflowing with salt water in places. Tree limbs are banging against the building and windows are rattling. Ferry operations have been suspended.

And almost everyone who is out and about is wearing high rubber boots. In a way they are an island fashion statement. We wouldn't trade them for oxfords or high heels any day.
