Ocracoke Election Results

According to an unofficial report from a member of the Hyde County Board of Elections, Ocracoke residents cast 457 votes yesterday. 305 ballots went for Barack Obama, and 143 went for John McCain. Hyde County as a whole cast 1225 votes for Obama and 1203 for McCain. According to the NC State Board of Elections web site's unofficial results, 49.6% of the state's voters supported Obama, and 49.4% supported McCain. Apparently, since the numbers are unofficial and so close, the electoral votes have not yet been awarded.

Our latest "newsletter" is a link to my new web site, Black Squall Books, with information about my forthcoming book, Digging up Uncle Evans, History, Ghost Tales, and Stories from Ocracoke Island, which is expected to be available by mid-November. 1. I am so happy that I cried. North Carolina didnt let us down even though it was a narrow margin(by 12,160 votes by my count). I worked on the campaign in Harnett County doing voter registration and door knocking. Im a bit distressed that Harnett went to McCain.
Glad to see Hyde came through for Obama by a wopping 1%.

Approximately 850 people live on O.I.

457 votes cast how many registered voters in totality?? Do you know?

the majority of those that participate in a democracy is the majority that rules --- so actually it can be a minority statistically speaking ---- statistics are really interesting especially when you look at the raw data

were people torn between voting and making history or electing a war veteran a POW, a white man with nearly 20 years of experience in the senate? Apparently in North carolina -- maybe they were mad at John Edwards.. Did the people who voted for Ralph Nader a spoiler -- that measly 1 per cent he garnered-- did SPLIT the difference but now there is change and the world will be saved I did like that song on You tube the won where they sing Obama's gonna change the world catchy beat it is worth watching I can't wait for the inaugural party

how much will that COST what companies will foot that bill in this economy. 6.5% unemployment car companies demanding loans ballooning deficits whoohooo
