Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

This day is just too gorgeous to sit for many minutes in front of a computer. It cooled off during the night. Right now it's just 60 degrees, but bright and sunny -- perfect to get a few things done outside. I'll be back tomorrow.

Our latest Ocracoke Newsletter celebrates colorful islander Don Wood (1936-1998). You can read it here: http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/news042610.htm.

PHILIP, DOES ANYONE HAVE A FULL TIME WORKING WEB CAM AIMED AT SILVER LAKE. AT ONE TIME A LOCAL MOTEL THERE HAD ONE BUT IT HAS BEEN DOWN FOR A WHILE. A CAMERA IN THE OLD COAST GUARD STATION WOULD BE FANTASTIC....MAYBE EVEN JUSTIFIED AS A PUBLIC SERVICE OR A TOURIST INCENTIVE....HEY , ANY EXCUSE TO GET ONE INSTALLED - AT TAX PAYER EXPENSIVE OF COURSE.

Philip, the Ocracoke Harbor Inn's Silver Lake Habor web-cam is the one I have always viewed. For some reason, the site @ teachs doesn't work for me.

I make it a habit to try and view the Ocracoke Harbor Inn web-cam (Silver Lake Harbor) AT LEAST once daily. It's almost a ritual for me now. Have done it for many months. In fact, I have even invented a little game I play.

After viewing the web-cam for a few moments, I estimate the wind mph and then check it out w/ the weather link, which is also available when I view the web-cam. Don't want to brag, but lately, I've been getting it right 3 out of 4 times! It is a rather amusing & relaxing past time for me!

Love seeing the ferry boats arriving and departing as well as viewing the folks leaving off the dock in their personal boats.

Just looking at this web-cam instantly lowers my BP.

It sometimes makes me sad knowing I'm not on the island, but the web-cam is a wonderful substitute! I just wish it could relay the wonderful sounds and smells of the island, too!

It's terrific! Hope all will enjoy!

How about that webcam at the airport? You can watch people going in and out of the porta-potty!
