Sand Sledding

My good friend, Monroe Gaskill, brought a load of sand to spread on the parking area at the Village Craftsmen. He left the sand there for several days. Lachlan and his playmates had a field day on that gigantic pile of sand. Children on the island seldom have an opportunity to enjoy snow sledding, so they make the best of what they have!

My sister had an enormous pile of dirt for a home construction/remodel project when her kids were little. Those three boys lived on that pile of dirt all summer!!!

As a child in the flat lands of South Florida ,a source of amusement one summer -- a flattened card board box from a refrigerator. It provided a surface much like a slip and slide to glide upon -- did I use another piece of cardboard to carry me down the path or my momentum and my polyester pants only-- I can't remember It sure was fun though at least I think it was the summer.LOL

We noticed that "somehow" the Village Craftsman sign near the pile seemed to have been festooned with what looks like projectiles made from the sand pile. I suppose it was just coincidence , and I noticed it was cleaned off by Monday. :-)

Ah, makes me want to be a kid again. This time around, NC Mainlander would like to have her childhood on Ocracoke Island.

    Good, "clean" fun for Lachlan!
