Scary picture, Philip. The power of the ocean....sobering.
NC Mainlander saw on WRAL-TV in Raleigh footage taken by their news helicopter. There have been at least what appears to be an apparent breach on highway #12 on Hatteras Island. You may have heard more info about it by now. Don't know how large, but it seems to be something which won't be a quick fix. I hope I'm wrong, though. DOT had not been able to evaluate the extent of the breach at the time of the 6 p.m. report on WRAL.
Lou Ann spends much of the summer on Ocracoke, and makes frequent visits throughout the year. She enjoys making short videos as she goes "out and about" around the island and elsewhere. She posts her videos on her blog. You can watch them here:
Incredible. Will pray that it holds fast, as I'm sure it would be a nightmare for all you folks if it doesn't.
