Ocracoke Waters

Summertime always brings sailboats into Silver Lake harbor. I took this photo, with the lighthouse in the background, several weeks ago.

Even folks who are not sailors flock to the island and our surrounding waters. Kayakers, fishermen, clammers, surfers, & parasailors always find much to enjoy here at Ocracoke.

Our latest Ocracoke Newsletter is the story of Ocracoke's Agnes Scott, direct descendant of Agnes Scott for whom the women's college in Decatur, Georgia is named. You can read the Newsletter here: http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/news062114.htm.

Wow, ouch! Do you have a zoom or feature to zoom out with your camera? At first I thought what lighthouse, your trained eye picks it up in a heartbeat. The mast and the cute little flag that no doubt the sail boat is flying under is out of frame as is part of the dinghgy . All the wonderful elements are there sort of, to make a wonderfully composed picture. Of course, it is a bit of luck with a moving object, however with your memory card if storage allows ,you can snap a few extras from either other angles ,or to get the boat Right where you want it. Then with the wonderful feature some cameras have-- you can review and delete the ones that did not come up to snuff! Now, when a strong horizon line is evident, one must make an effort to think 180 degrees . This bit of critique applys only to someone else that took a picture just like this one , PH your image is charming.
