Contest Winner

Congratulations to Greg Smith who submitted the winning entry to last week's contest. Greg guessed that the 1951 price of a 1/2 acre lot on Portsmouth Island was $22.50.   His guess was the closest to the actual price of $15.99!

Many thanks to all who entered our contest. We will be mailing this hand-crafted pottery bowl by Sunset Hill Stoneware to Greg in the next few days.

If one has old copies of the information please almanac perhaps one could extrapolate a price on the lot back in 1951. As I searched for datum on income levels for that year I discovered income statistics for a 2012 North Carolina The average income for the TOP 1% of NC residents was 828,487 and the average income for the bottom 99% was $40,000. Back in 1928 he top 1% earned 16.7% of all state income in 2007 it was 17% still looking for statistics on 1951. DD
