They followed the same route that they did before, Manteo for a few days then Ocracoke for a few days then take the ferry to the mainland and then back to Boone.<br />I told them that the OBX was NOT the same as they remembered it, they scoffed. They were saddened to see that the Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Duck communities that they fondly remembered do not exist anymore. Those communities have turned into Myrtle Beach like areas. Sad. Traffic is out of control. It's store after store, needless eateries, less sand, more traffic lights, less of the fishing, historic, natural areas. It will NEVER return! Mytrle Beach started out with ONE house. Look at it now. Very sad. HOWEVER, there was a bright note to their sadness. OCRACOKE, OCRACOKE, OCRACOKE is the same. They loved it. There is less of the brogue, more signs and dumpsters on the roadways less of a view of the harbor but they loved it. THANK YOU OCRACOKE FOR BEING AS YOU ARE. Don't let it die because it can NEVER be returned. One last note. The harbor view is much missed. It is mostly blocked by buildings now. It was a beautiful sight. Now you can only catch a fast view from the village side. Still all in all it is beautiful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6559692.post-86392084451842971882017-07-07T16:28:52.116-04:002017-07-07T16:28:52.116-04:00we have a great time there every year!...best para...we have a great time there every year!...best parade in America.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
