Why, bare feet, of course. <br /><br />I quote a few lines from Gerard Manley Hopkins' poem "God's Grandeur":<br /><br />"And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;<br />And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod."<br /><br />Even if you wear shoes other places, take them off on Ocracoke, at least at the beach, and in the water.
