She remembered calling her dog from the porch, and wondering why she was so slow coming. Finally she realized that the tide had come in (covered with a think layer of snow!). The dog was swimming through the ice cold water. I...That was one of the fiercest storms I have seen. In Rodanthe the drifts were several feet high and as I recall, the northeast wind was of hurricane force.
