I haven't had much time to get to the beach, but I have found a few nice shells each time I've been there. Scotch bonnets are the North Carolina state shell and one of my favorites. Here is a picture of some of the shells I've come home with.
I sent my aunt and uncle your web address along with a couple of links to live ocracoke webcam. That did the trick to get them to spend a week on ocracoke the past summer.
My aunt said especially the webcam convinced them to visit. The town of ocracoke needs to put up their own webcam on the waterfront. Talk about in your face advertising!
To the point of beachcombing, metal detectors are not permitted anywhere on the ocean beaches of Ocracoke, are they?
Separately, aside from the stories of salvaged cargo from wrecks over the years, any anecdotes you have to share (yours or from others) re. particularly noteworthy beach finds?

Those are very nice Scotch Bonnets. Good ones are hard to find.
