According to news sources, the state of North Carolina has signed a contract for a new ferry to serve the Ocracoke-Cedar Island and Ocracoke-Swan Quarter routes. The new vessel will be 220 feet long, by 50 feet wide, and will be able to carry up to 50 cars and 300 passengers. Work may begin as early as later this month, and is expected to be completed by May, 2011.
