Many thanks to Jaren who snapped the photo, below, of a recent waterspout out in Pamlico Sound. We don't often hear of damage caused by waterspouts...though you wouldn't want to be in a boat in one's path! And we did have a house destroyed by a waterspout that came ashore near "the pond" a number of years ago. Luckily no one was in the house.
They do make dramatic viewing though.

The report I heard on television was that there were TWO waterspouts over the Sound.
ReplyDeleteI guess I slept through both of them.
Philip, do you know if the Swan Quarter or Cedar Island ferries have ever had to "dodge" a water spout? Just wondered....glad all are safe. Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how close ferries have ever come to a water spout, but all boaters steer well clear of them!
