Portsmouth

The theme of this past weekend's Homecoming on Portsmouth Island was a celebration of the 100 year old Methodist Church. Because of a recent minor back injury I decided not to risk the boat ride over. However, my friend, Jim, from Manteo, went. It was a beautiful day with clear skies, a gentle breeze...and very few mosquitoes. Nearly 500 people were in attendance. Jim graciously offered some of his photos for me to share with our readers. 2. Sorry you missed it. My friend Rich and I traveled from Ohio to the reunion. Everything about it was wonderful. And yes, the ride over was a bit bumpy and wet but not so bad coming back.

What an undertaking. What a huge amount of trash generated. Styrofoam plates ,plastic forks, plastic water bottles, paper napkins, port-o-potties, paper towels, etc.

The need to keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot to avoid food borne illness must be a daunting task. Those involved no doubt enjoy the challenge but it seems the remote location.... or did the coast guard fly a helicopter over and drop in the ice, the porti- potty and all the needed amenities then return to remove the trash? That would have made it easy and why not allow The Forest Service to help the national park service to help the tax payer that funds all the sorties to Gawd forsaken areas where the locals can't get along and cause problems and create a world crisis every time you turn around.

Anonymous 11:11 must have been the person that left their panties on Howard Street the other night. I guess stepping in dog poop will give you that attitude.
