Every year the Ocracoke Festival (June 3-5 this year) hosts an art auction. The on-site live auction will take place this coming Friday, June
3rd, at the Berkley Manor starting at 7:00 pm. For those who want to get a jump start on
bidding (or who can't make it to the event), Festival organizers are offering online
bidding until 7 PM, Thursday, June 2. The highest online bid will become
the starting bid for the on-site auction on Friday, June 3rd. If no one
outbids you, you are the winner!
For photos of the art, an on-line bidding form, and more information, please visit the official Ocracoke Festival web site: http://www.ocracokealive.org/auction.html.

waaaaay back when I was younger our family visited ocracoke. we watched a crab race taking place. I think a art show was also taking place down Howard st. I was interested in the crab race. Did a crab race ever take place during one of these festivals and do you guys still have them. I want my kids to enjoy one. I think some people might have been betting on them as well. Looked like fun. thanks T.E. Clio,sc
ReplyDeleteThe answers to most of your questions are in my July 21, 2014 Ocracoke Newsletter (Ocracoke Crab Festival): http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/news072114.htm. However, crab races are no longer a part of any of our festivals. Maybe someone will revive them one of these days.
DeleteDo the children in the public schools on OI recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the Star Spanglled Banner on a daily basis?
ReplyDeleteThey recite the Pledge of Allegiance, but do not sing the National Anthem every day...just on special occasions.
