Pamlico Sound is a beautiful body of water in all seasons of the year. It is perfect for fishing, clamming, swimming, sailing, or, if it is very cold, simply enjoying from a vantage point along the marsh.
Our latest Ocracoke Newsletter is the story of Beatrice Wells, child
evangelist, who preached at Ocracoke in the late 1930s/early 1940s. You

It is very beautiful... along those lines... Here's a you tube link about Portsmouth southward that was on PBS that people might enjoy when time permits...

When I was much younger and visiting the Ocracoke I would ride my bike to the wooden bridge at Parkers Creek & Hwy 12. I would sit on top of the wide railings of the bridge with my camera in hand. Ready for anything. Nothing much happened other than a bird flying by or a splash in the water. I still took pictures. I still have those pictures. They are mostly of blue water and sky. But they still remind me of the soft blowing wind and warm sun and the solitude that I spent there. So, here I am 40 years later and I still have those memories. Your picture reminded me of my pictures. Thank you.
