Molly the Bunny

I learned yesterday that Molly Lovejoy made the chocolate eggs, and brought them by. Two years ago she was dressed up as the Easter Bunny for the Easter Egg hunt on the Methodist Church lawn. Lachlan was startled when he abruptly came face to face with the Bunny, and from then on wanted nothing to do with anyone in costume. He is gradually getting over his fear of these creatures, but certainly isn't enamored of them. Last week I mentioned the Easter Bunny, to which he replied, "The Easter Bunny isn't very interesting." After a moment's thought, however, he added, "But the candy is very interesting!"

Thanks for the egg, Molly!

In our latest Ocracoke Newsletter I share information about our many local cemeteries, with examples of some of our more interesting epitaphs. You can read it here.

Our son, Rick, can understand Lachlan's fear of the Easter Bunny! When we lived in Indiana and Rick was only about 2 1/2, our daughter was the Easter Bunny at the local mall. Since she had to be in costume before the mall opened, we took her there, along with little Rick. As soon as she was seated on the platform, she called to Rick , saying, "Ricky, it's me, Betsy". He ran off screaming "the Easter Bunny ate my sister!" He was (and still is) quite dramatic! Maybe it's one of those times where "you had to be there" to get the humor.

The notion that little children embrace giant animals is beyond me. The same with clowns, some of those carnival people are well let's just use the word itinerant and leave it at that.
However, Ms. Lovejoy is living her namesake as she showers her friends with homemade goodies.

The above story about Rick was really funny. Today a woman told me that she told her grandkids to come over because they were going to dye Easter eggs. They couldn't believe their granny would do this and went off screaming.
