School End of Year Christmas Show

Last night hundreds of locals crammed in Ocracoke School's gym to watch the children perform their annual Christmas Show. The children were enthusiastic and did a great job. This year there are 153 children in Ocracoke School (pre-K through 12)...The largest enrollment ever.
One of the school's "Christmas presents" is a new gym. It's been discussed and planned for a couple of years now, but preliminary work has finally begun to make this a reality. It was obvious last night that the school really has outgrown the current gym.
Below are a few photos of the old trailers behind the gym being moved out. There is also a picture of the Ocracoke School sign. This year they changed the school colors from the original black and gold to blue and silver. They said it made more sense since the school mascot is the Dolphin and those are dolphin colors.

Glad you featured J. Dudley's "Ocracoke Album". It's a wonderful book and I cherish my autographed copy which was purchased @ The Village Craftsmen this past October when I was there! This book is a most complete album of both historical information and outstanding vintage photos with amazing views. Truly, a handsome coffee table style book!

    It's a treasure....just like Ocracoke Island.

I have enjoyed seeing the growth of the Ocracoke School over the years. Even though I live far away, I have kept up with the steady progress which has taken place. Congrats on the concept and plans to build your new Ocracoke school gym! It's refreshing to see the devotion of the students and community all come together for such a positive cause!

When large school districts and school board members can't get along and agree on what is truly important among other areas in NC, it's such a joy to hear about the growth and success of the Ocracoke school!

Ocracoke school truly is a reminder it's NOT the size or QUANTITY of the student body, it's the QUALITY that is placed on education and caring for one another!

    Go Dolphins!

could you please send me the recipe for the delicious sweet potato casserole you fixed for Thanksgiving. That's the only way Rick will eat them!
