ReplyDeleteI've never climbed the mast of a skipjack, but have spent a lot of time on deck when I crewed with Virginia W on the Chesapeake Bay. They use a huge amount of sail area.
The folks that put the Wilma Lee project together are to be highly commended. Skipjacks are a beautifully designed work boat and there were hundreds that sailed the Pamlico Sound years ago.
Today there are hardly any left. Wilma Lee is impeccably maintained and best of all, still used. Some day I'll arrange a cruise.
