I thought our readers would enjoying seeing this photo, taken in July of 1956. It is a shot of what is now NC Highway 12, and was sent to me by Judy Jones.The arrow on the left points to the Island Inn. The arrow on the right points to the intersection where the kayaks are rented.

That is a great picture. I sure would like to see other pictures from the time frame. I actually love any old pictures of Ocracoke Island. I have purchased nearly every book that you all sell, just looking for any pictures I can get. Hope in the days ahead you folks can find more to share!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that. I know how much Ocracoke has changed since I first came as an infant in 1973. (Yeah I know, just a young'en here)
