You can order a copy of Della's book directly from our web site (http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/islandbooks.htm#ablessedlife), or purchase a copy at our store on Howard Street...or buy one from other merchants on the island. You'll be glad you did. A Blessed Life is the most recent addition to a wide selection of books about Ocracoke. This one is told by an island native, and that makes it extra special.
Our current Ocracoke Newsletter is an account of Infant & Childhood Mortality on Ocracoke. You can read it here: http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/news072113.htm.
It's a GREAT book. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it and if you're reading this blog, then you'll most likely love this book too.
ReplyDeleteThe Grand Dame of Ocracoke speaks. It is a delight to read - especially if you have ever talked to Della - it is like her telling you the stories. Love this lady - and her fig preserves and fig honey can't be beat!!

OK Debbie Downer....how you gonna put a negative spin on this one??
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely book that I plan to add to my collection next time I am on island.
I started to order it, but the shipping is almost as much as the book! I guess I'll have to wait until I'm on Ocracoke again to purchase it ... but I really want to read it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a lucky island visitor--I have been in Della's kitchen while she was cooking! Always love stopping by her place, and stopping by the Village Craftsman to see what new goodies are there and to try to catch you on the porch, Philip!
ReplyDeleteNC Mainlander will proudly add Della's book to my beloved library of O.I. books. I have been excited about this book for a long time and look so forward to reading it.
