Ocracoke Island July 4th Schedule
OCRACOKE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION 2013
8am - 10am OCRACOKE PONIES Come out to The Ocracoke Pony Pens and meet the newest edition to the pony herd “Captain”!
9am FLAG RAISING CEREMONY Led by Ocracoke Boy Scout Troop #290 At the School Circle on School Road.
9:30am – Noon 37th ANNUAL SAND SCULPTURE CONTEST At the NPS Life Guard Beach.
10am – 2pm CLASSIC CARS On the Pony Island Motel Lawn
10am - 2pm FACE PAINTING WITH LOCAL ARTISTS at the Community Square on the harbor.
10am – 2pm OCRACOKE LIGHTHOUSE The lighthouse will be open for viewing with island natives Dale and Chester.
11am PIRATES ON STAGE At the Community Square on the harbor.
Noon 2nd ANNUAL FIG CAKE BAKE-OFF At the Community Square on the harbor. Set up and preview begins at Noon. Judging begins at 2pm with free sampling after. Daphne Bennink will host on-site, live WOVV 90.1 FM Awards announced at Community Square Stage 6pm.
1pm – 6 pm TRADITIONAL ISLAND FISH CAKE SANDWICHS Fundraiser at Community Square.
1pm PIRATES ON STAGE At the Community Square on the harbor.
3pm OLD TIME OCRACOKE PARADE Entrants should register by 2 PM on the 4th at The Sweet Tooth. Forms available at the Post Office and throughout village or Download a form at WOVV.org, and return to Parade@WOVV.org Parade route starts at The Topless Oyster, left on Lighthouse Rd., right on Creek Rd., right on Silver Lake Dr., follow road around harbor to Parade's end at NPS Parking Lot. Winners announced at Community Square Stage 6pm!
5pm - 6pm STORIES WITH DONALD DAVIS On the lawn at Books To Be Red, located on the corner of School Road and Highway 12. Chairs and Blankets are welcome!
EVENING CELEBRATION Located On the Docks at the Community Square 6:00pm - 10:30pm Join us for Awards Popcorn, Cotton Candy, Blackbeard, Music and Dancing! Lawn chairs are welcome and please remember to park at the NPS parking lot!!
6pm NATIONAL ANTHEM, AND PATRIOTIC SONGS WITH THE OCRACOKE SUMMER CAMP SINGERS, FOLLOWED BY THE AWARDS PRESENTATION ! Winners announced for parade, sand sculpture and fig cake bake-off.
6:30pm - 7:45pm TRADITIONAL ISLAND SQUARE DANCE David Tweedie, Lou Castro, Marcy Brenner, Gary Mitchell with Philip Howard as caller.
8:30pm – 10:30pm THE OCRACOKE ROCKERS
