Happy Father's Day!

Lachlan stopped over this morning and told me he and his daddy were going to the Coffee Company for a smoothie. I gave him ten dollars and helped him stuff it down in the very bottom of his pants pocket. "This is a secret," I told him. "When you get to the cashier, pull out the ten dollars, hand it to the person behind the counter, and say, 'It's my treat today...Happy Father's Day Daddy!'"

It was a good idea...but he forgot. I guess he was too excited about getting a smoothie. Or maybe something else was going on. David says that about half way home Lachlan commented that he had some money...and was thinking about what he could spend it on!

Ah, the minds of almost-5 year olds are so busy absorbing the world around them that they forget things sometimes...what a beautiful thought though, Philip. Kelli was so excited that she forgot the "its a secret" part and burst out at dinner, "mommy, is it time to give daddy his cards and special plant and..." I stopped her right there! Jack could only smile. Happy Father's Day to you, Philip, and David and all fathers and dads out there! jack, celeste, katie, and kelli.

well i wonder if this concept of a secret can logically be explained to a youngster . why not use the word surprise. In each case described the result was to surprise someone with a gift.

When is a secret no longer a secret? Was Jon keeping something secret from Kate? Did he ever want to reveal and surprise Kate with news of his Girlfriend??

Colonel Saunders had a secret recipe for seasoning his fried chicken -- Countries have top military secrets.

    Don't ask don't tell.
