I've published another Ocracoke Newsletter. This month I share the second half of my father's short journal. I call it Remembering Growing up on Ocracoke. You can read it here.
When did the telephone arrive on the island and where was the switchboard operator's office -- on island off island ? These "number please"ladies no doubt knew everything that was going on!!
Does your dad have anything to say about the Figs that grow on ocracoke. In 2005 you mention fig cake how about a picture of one of the classic fig cakes??
It's like having an Ocracoke native in your pocket!
