Just in case you haven't heard -- Charles Temple walked away from the Jeopardy Teachers Tournament last night as the $100,000 winner. The crowd at Gaffer's pub erupted in wild celebration. It just so happened that the Ocracoke School prom was also last night. Everyone was bussed over to the pub from the prom to watch the contest. The principal even crowned the prom king and queen during a Jeopardy commercial break. What an exciting two weeks this has been. Congratulations, Charles!

ReplyDeletehave been beaming since last night and I live over 225 miles away in the northern Piedmont of NC. What an incredible journey this has been for the folks of Ocracoke!
Charles from Ocracoke and Scotty from Garner ( American Idol) have really made NC proud!
Revel in the moment now, "Sir Charles"! :) You deserve it!
Philip, you do know famous folks!
Charles has a girlfriend, Chrisi. I don't know how they both kept the secret for six weeks. But they sure were beaming last night!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Charles and congratulations, Ocracoke! Small island makes it big!

ReplyDeleteWe watched all week cheering Charles on. What an exciting week it was! The first thing out of my mouth was "party on the island tonight", wish we had been there.
ReplyDeleteA hearty congratulations from the Richmond area.
Keep the celebration going until next Saturday when my annual Ocracoke week starts! Hopefully, there will be at least one community wide event involving food that I can attend while there. If not, I know where you live Philip and might stop by for some of that clam chowder on your pizer!
ReplyDeleteHe'll be known forever as the Other Comeback Kid.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Charles!

There were some tough questions that Charles had to answer throughout the tournament, but I would think the toughest part of it all would have been to keep such a huge secret from everyone! After all, it's not everyday that a person earns $100K in a game show. Charles must have a "poker face".
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of Charles, Ocracoke Island and the school.
