A Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Decisions can be so difficult when you live on Ocracoke. This past Sunday afternoon I had planned to mess about with my skiff. It's not in the water yet, but I was looking forward to repairing the bow, painting the floor boards, and varnishing the spoked wheel my dad made many years ago.

That's when Rob called to ask me if I'd like to go with him to take his new teaching sailboat out into Pamlico Sound.

I figured my boat repairs could wait.

For more than two hours we sailed lazily down the ferry channel...then back home to Silver Lake. As you might be able to determine by looking at the photos below (click on either one to view a larger image), it was a totally relaxing afternoon.

Thanks to Ruth and Ken who just happened to be going by in their motorboat for the pictures.

Beautiful photos, Philip!!! I actually noticed the vessel while viewing the Ocracoke Harbor Inn's Silver Lake Web-cam (as I do several times nearly everyday), but had no idea it was you and Capt. Rob!!!

You certainly had a lovely day for sailing.

Yes, lots to do on Ocracoke, but you made the right choice when Capt. Rob called!

Market analysis median age in hyde county for 2009 39.7. population 5211. Median age means approximately 2106 people younger than 39.7 and an equal number older than 39.7. likewise median house value in 2009 $105,068 but in 2000 it was only $60,100. In 2009 median mortgage payment $1,386. if the other figures mean anything the upper quarter median house price of $204,748 is rather telling of the simple life. If anyone has more current figures please post.

Is Charles Temple related to Rob Temple (captain of the Windfall)?

Captain Rob is Charlie's uncle . . . if I ain't mistaken, but I'm not familiar with the entire family tree.

  5. Philip,
Loved seeing you and Capt. Rob sailing...and your choice was obviously a great choice that day! Beautiful new boat, Capt. Rob has...and we can't wait to see the new Windfall II...we'll be down mid-June and we cannot wait!

A chance like that doesn't come along everyday. On the other hand, a chance to do chores does... unfortunately. With a little luck, maybe he'll call you next week too.
