  1. Philip - I don't think you're on Face Book, but there are some really spectacular photos of the flooding.

Where do you put cars when there's a storm surge? I know some folks have raised garages, but what about the ones who don't?

Thank all of you for braving the elements to keep all of those who love Ocracoke, the locals as well as those that visit, informed as to what is happening. BE CAREFUL!...

  5. Where do folks put cars to protect them from a storm surge?? There are a few small hills and higher ground in the village. In front of the Island Ragpicker is one place. Another is on the other side of Silver Lake, past the Horizon Condos. I have a small hill behind my house, and another behind the Village Craftsmen.

    Philip,

When the waters recede and you again have time for more mundane to-dos, would you mind telling about the "small hill" behind you house and The Village Craftsmen? I presume these are manmade. One of the things I've noticed at several locations around the island is construction of slightly elevated garages a some homes. Seems a wise investment at times like these.

    All the best.
