Honored

Just a few days ago I learned that Ocracoke School was honored recently in Durham for being one of only 35 public schools in North Carolina with a 100% on-time graduation rate for the class of 2012. In other words, every one of last year's seniors graduated in four years.

Congratulations to Echo, Virginia, Leslie, Cassandra, Molly, William, & Ashley...to the faculty & staff of Ocracoke School...and to the seniors' parents, friends, and neighbors for their support and encouragement!

What I find interesting is the body of knowledge has grown and is far more technical then say when my parents attended high school and yet we expect secondary educators to expose students to far more information in the same time frame. Either the elementary education needs to kick it up a notch more technical stuff t an earlier age to allow the secondary students to apply their knowledge and discover things and make a scientific break through . Congratulations are in order how ever 35 schools out of a total of 200??? Perhaps the NC Public schools are "failing" to serve the students properly

Kinda hard to let 7 students fall through the cracks. Would you expect any less from Ocracoke?
