Didn't these early censuses require 1st name, sex, age & occupation-or were they merely headcounts?
ReplyDeleteFrom 1790 - 1840 the censuses recorded the name of the head of each household and simply a head count of the other residents of the house, enumerated by sex, age, and color. By 1850 all of the residents of a household were listed by name, along with house #, age, sex, color and occupation.
