End of Summer?

Lachlan & I biked down to the Jolly Roger Restaurant last night for supper and to listen to Lachlan's daddy and the rest of the band play. We wore long sleeved shirts, and took jackets with us. Almost everyone there had sweatshirts or jackets, and hats. It wasn't particularly cold, but nightfall and wind (15-20 mph) combined to make it just chilly enough (and dark enough) to remind us that summer is coming to an end, and fall is just around the corner. After a long, hot, and humid summer I think we're all ready for a change of climate.

This month's Ocracoke Newsletter, Looking for the Wahabs of Ocracoke, was written by Dr. James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute. You can read the article here:

This is the best time on Ocracoke -lazy days and cozy nights.
    Gotta love it!

    Can't argue with that.

    I'm on my way.

We will be over there late Saturday morning and staying for a week. Plan on putting a lot of miles on the hammock on the back porch. Hey Phillip, what you cooking for the pot luck dinner Saturday night? We may have to change our plans and eat there instead of Jasons Saturday night. David in Fayetteville

I'm betting my money on deviled eggs.

Another silly question ... if someone on Ocracoke doesn't have a washer and dryer, or it breaks, where do they do their laundry?

  9. I really can make other things...but it will probably be deviled eggs. They're always a hit, and easy to make a few hours ahead of time.

The weather there has been wonderful, especially just post-hurricane. It was great to see the island again, and Phillip, thanks for not mowing my wife and I when we stopped by your shop on our bikes when you were mulching storm detritus :-)
