Lachlan & School

A couple of days ago I had this comment:

"A while back, Philip, you posted a photo of Lachlan on the way to his first day of school. If I'm not mistaken you promised to give us a report on how it went for him. But nothing since! How is it going on Ocracoke for the younguns as they enter school?"

Every time I ask Lachlan how school is going he says "Great!" We take that as a good sign.

However he can still be impish. Several days ago he found the "contacts" list in his mama's cell phone and called a friend to invite him to a party. The friend's mama answered (it was her cell number after all). When she asked to speak with Amy to verify the details about this "party" Lachlan said that probably wasn't a very good idea. You've got to give it to him for cleverness!

This month's Ocracoke Newsletter, Looking for the Wahabs of Ocracoke, was written by Dr. James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute. You can read the article here: http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/news082110.htm.

  1. After all, he is a grown man in a little boy's body. At least he thinks so. Right?

I suspect Lachlan inherited the "impish" part honestly....what you do you think, Philip? :)

    Hi Philip,

Found this article this morning when checking my email. It's about a plan backed by the federal goverment to reduce the number of horses in the Corolla herd to 60. Didn't know what non-residents could do to make a change, but I thought your readers might be interested. (You may need to copy and paste the link for it to work.)

Good grief philip you need to ask Lachlan stuff like when is the jelly bean field day. or how many jumping jacks can you do in phys ed. Or what color group are you in when reading time rolls around or how much it 7 plus 7 or When I come to school
to volunteer what would be a good day for you? If you ask yes or no questions you will get yes or no for an answer actually there is a series of books titled What every kindergartner should know
what every first grader etc. they are very good it gives parents a heads ou on what to ask and then talk about to be spot on.

Hearing about Lachlan brought back many happy memories. I still treasure my adult grandkids-but they aren't nearly as funny.

Silly question time, what does the post office and sheffif's office look like? If memory serves me correctly, the PO is a one-story, unpainted structure? Can you post a pic, perhaps?
